Addison Fire Department Earns National Recognition for Lifesaving Exce

Published on June 17, 2025

The Addison Fire Department has received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline EMS® Gold Achievement Award for the third consecutive year, recognizing its unwavering commitment to providing fast, evidence-based treatment to people experiencing the most severe forms of heart attacks and strokes.

Even more notably, Addison is one of only 36 departments nationwide to also receive the Gold Plus Target: Heart Attack Honor Roll Award, highlighting its exceptional performance in advanced cardiac care.

Addison paramedics begin lifesaving treatment the moment they arrive—often up to an hour sooner than if a patient were to drive to the hospital. EMS crews are also trained in advanced resuscitation techniques for individuals whose hearts have stopped. Patients arriving by ambulance frequently receive faster hospital care thanks to this seamless, coordinated system.

Mission: Lifeline EMS® is a national initiative by the American Heart Association to improve outcomes for patients facing high-risk, time-sensitive emergencies. The program removes barriers to timely treatment—from the 911 call to EMS transport and into hospital care and discharge—so patients receive the critical care they need, when they need it most.
