Utility Rates
On January 23, 2018, the City Council adopted new utility rates as set forth in the financial plan and utility rate model created by Raftelis Financial Consultants, Inc. (RFC). The new adjustments consist of the following proposed increases to water and sewer rates over a five-year period:
- Fiscal Year 2020: 6.5%
- Fiscal Year 2021: 6%
- Fiscal Year 2022: 2.5%
- Fiscal Year 2023: 5%
- Fiscal Year 2024: 4.5%
Staff reviews the utility rate model on an annual basis to ensure the rate adjustments are appropriate, but the 4.5% increase anticipated for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 was approved by Council at the September 12, 2023 meeting. Fees for stormwater will remain the same. The new rate went into effect on October 1, 2023, and will appear on the invoice residents will receive in November.
The Town contracts with Community Waste Disposal (CWD) for residential garbage and recycling collections for all single-family homes in Addison. On October 24, 2023, the City Council approved a rate adjustment per the Town's contract with CWD which results in a monthly garbage and recycling rate increase from $13.24 to $14.28, per single-family home. The increase will take effect on November 1, 2023, and be reflected on the December utility bill.
The average customer will see a 3% (or 2.88 per month) increase in their bill (rates vary based on usage)
