DART’s Silver Line regional rail project is on track to open this fall, offering a 26-mile route from Plano to DFW Airport Terminal B. This new line will enhance access to over 200,000 jobs and educational opportunities within a half-mile of the corridor, significantly boosting regional connectivity.

In Addison, construction is progressing steadily. Crews are finalizing the electrical infrastructure at the Addison Station, after which ticket kiosks and digital information boards will be installed. Testing is expected to wrap up by the end of July. At that point, the horns currently required for safety testing will go silent. The entire Addison stretch falls within a designated quiet zone.

Work continues on the crossing arms at Addison Road and Quorum Drive. Due to their proximity, timing the signals posed a challenge, but DART believes those issues will soon be resolved. All at-grade crossings along the route have been completed. However, DART crews plan to revisit several of them to smooth out rough transitions.

Work recently began on the adjacent hike-and-bike trail in Addison, which will tie into a 57-mile regional network. The pedestrian crossing at the Dallas North Tollway remains closed until the City of Dallas has signed off on the final approvals and installed the necessary safety crossings.

Each Silver Line train seats 230 passengers and can accommodate an additional 100 standing. These sleek, modern “green” trains meet current EPA emissions standards, supporting DART’s environmental goals. The fleet will be housed in Plano. The trip from Addison to DFW Airport is expected to take 32 minutes.

Operating hours for the Silver Line will be 4am to 12:30am, with trains running every 30 minutes during peak hours (6–9am and 4–7pm) and hourly during off-peak times. DART will retain the flexibility to adjust frequency for special events.
