Addison is taking a proactive approach to mosquito control, and you can help. While the Town monitors and responds to mosquito activity, residents play a vital role in keeping our community safe and comfortable during mosquito season.
Mosquito control starts at home. Everyone plays a role in preventing mosquito breeding. Here’s how you can help:
To help reduce mosquito populations and protect Addison residents from bites, the Addison Environmental Health Division is offering free Mosquito Dunks at the Addison Athletic Club.
Last month, the Town deployed four mosquito traps. These are collected weekly and sent to Dallas County Health and Human Services labs for testing. The traps are designed only to capture the types of mosquitoes that carry the West Nile Virus. When we get a positive test result, we will respond by spraying the entire town the following two mornings. Mosquito spraying will be almost exclusively restricted to the detection of the West Nile Virus in the Addison area.
