Addison Honors Hometown Heroes During America's 250th Anniversary
Published on July 15, 2026
As part of the nation's 250th anniversary celebration, the Town of Addison proudly unveiled its first-ever Hometown Heroes exhibit, honoring residents and employees whose military service has helped protect the freedoms Americans enjoy every day.
The Hometown Heroes exhibit is on display in the Town Hall lobby throughout July and showcases the stories of Addison residents who have served in every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. From veterans of past generations to those currently serving and deployed around the world, the exhibit celebrates their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to our nation.
In addition to recognizing residents, the Town celebrates the many veterans who continue to serve the community as Addison employees.
Recently, Addison received the Texas Workforce Commission's We Hire Vets Employer Recognition, awarded to employers whose workforce includes at least 10 percent veterans. Veterans currently make up 13 percent of Addison's workforce, reflecting the Town's ongoing commitment to recruiting, supporting, and recognizing those who have served in the military.
"Our freedom is not free," said Mayor Bruce Arfsten. "It exists because of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who have answered the call to serve our country. We are honored to recognize them as Addison's Hometown Heroes.
The exhibit serves as a tribute to the service members and military families who have made lasting contributions to both the Addison community and the nation. Their stories of service, sacrifice, and dedication remind us of the enduring values that have shaped our country for 250 years.
Guests are encouraged to visit the Hometown Heroes exhibit in the Town Hall lobby throughout July. Addison Town Hall located at 15600 Addison Rd is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the public is welcome to stop by and experience this special tribute to Addison's hometown heroes.
The exhibit will remain on display through the end of the year. Submissions from Addison residents are still being accepted, and photos may be emailed to marketing@addisontx.gov.
