Police Chief Chris Freis presented the Addison Police Department’s 2024 Annual Report during the April 8 City Council Meeting, spotlighting a year marked by increased community engagement, enhanced visibility in neighborhoods, and strong public safety outcomes.

Addison saw a 17.2% decrease in overall crime compared to 2023, with a 50% clearance rate—the department’s highest in three years. Officers responded to 14,750 calls for service, an 11.7% decrease, attributed in part to the launch of the Addison Police Reporting Online (APRO) program. The department also reported a 22% increase in recovered stolen property year-over-year.

Chief Freis announced that the department has recently launched myAPD, a new online portal created by an Addison officer. The tool allows residents to easily request close patrols and parking exemptions, report crime tips, and more on one dashboard. He also noted that the Community Crime Maps interface has finally been restored. The community can access that resource and a monthly activity infographic on the department's website.
