During its July 7 work session, City Council received an update on the nearly 57-mile Cotton Belt Regional Trail, which will connect communities from Plano to Fort Worth along much of the DART Silver Line corridor. The regional trail has been in planning for nearly three decades and is being built in phases through a partnership of local municipalities and regional transportation agencies.
Construction continues to make steady progress in Addison. The trail from Addison Road to the Dallas North Tollway is 95% complete, work is underway on the new Midway Road bridge, and planning continues on the final segment between Marsh Lane and Surveyor Boulevard. Staff also shared preliminary plans for future trail amenities, including lighting, benches, landscaping, public art, water stations, and signage.
