Council Approves New Public Art for AMLI Treehouse Greenbelt
Published on March 13, 2026
As part of the AMLI Treehouse Phase II project, AMLI Residential committed $150,000 to support two public art installations that will be located within the greenbelt corridor adjacent to the development and dedicated to the Town.
To select the artwork, staff issued a Request for Qualifications through a national public art platform. The Town received 39 submissions, including 13 from Texas artists. A selection committee made up of Town staff and representatives from the Addison Arbor Foundation reviewed the submissions and shortlisted artists based on experience, quality of work, and artistic style.
Three artists were then invited to develop concepts inspired by the natural environment of the greenbelt, including preserved canopy trees, pollinator patches, perennials, and Addison’s signature tulip plantings, as well as the site’s history, including the Addison Treehouse entrepreneur incubator, Dovie’s Restaurant, and the area’s ranching heritage.
After reviewing the concepts, the committee recommended two proposals by artist Kenneth McCall. At its March 10 meeting, Council approved the sculptures Where Leaves Listen and Whispers of the Wind.Staff will now issue a Notice to Proceed so the artist can begin fabrication and installation.
