At the March 10 meeting, Chief Chris Freis presented the Addison Police Department’s 2025 Annual Report, highlighting the department’s work to enhance public safety and strengthen community partnerships over the past year. The report shows continued progress in crime reduction, including a 54% decrease in motor vehicle thefts and a 26% decrease in overall property crime.

In 2025, officers responded to 12,540 calls for service, conducted 9,761 traffic stops, and made 962 arrests, while detectives worked more than 2,800 cases and secured 732 arrest warrants. The department reported 12.8% fewer crimes against persons and 25% fewer crimes against property.

APD also introduced several initiatives, including the creation of a Community Response Team (CRT) to focus on crime hotspots, fugitive apprehension, and neighborhood patrols. Officers continued extensive training in areas such as active-shooter response, de-escalation, and defensive tactics to ensure they met or exceeded state and national standards.

Community engagement remained a priority throughout the year, with officers participating in neighborhood meetings, school events, and outreach programs. These efforts included initiatives, such as the Heroes and Helpers holiday shopping event for local students and the Santa’s Heroes Drive, which provided gifts and essential items to Addison families in need.

The department also successfully completed its Texas Police Chiefs Association re-accreditation, demonstrating continued commitment to best practices in law enforcement operations, training, and accountability.
