Status Updates

The Town of Addison is moving forward with the Celestial Park Entrance and Lighting Improvements project to enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall visitor experience at one of our community’s most cherished parks. The project is currently completing the design phase, with construction completion anticipated in FY2026.

Project Highlights

• Scope: The improvements will address erosion at the southeast entrance, provide ADA-compliant access, and gauge interest in installing new lighting to improve safety along the lawn walking path. The entrance design will be updated to integrate natural materials, and a new lighting plan will be developed.
• Community Engagement: Residents and park users will have opportunities to provide feedback as the design is finalized. 3D Graphics of the design were presented at the last Town Hall meeting held in November 2025. Feedback was positive all around. See shared graphics below. 
• Budget: The total project budget is $268,255, funded by the Self-Funded Special Projects Fund and 2022 General Obligation Bonds.
• Timeline: Design and community engagement are underway. Construction is expected to begin in FY2026, with project completion by the end of that fiscal year.

4. Construction Phase (Q2 2026 – Q4 2026)

• Site preparation and mobilization
• Ongoing project management and quality control
• Community updates and engagement
• Milestone: Substantial completion of entrance and lighting improvements

5. Project Closeout (Q4 2026)

• Final inspections and punch list completion
• Project acceptance by the Town
• Community feedback and post-construction review
• Finalize project documentation and closeout
• Milestone: Project completion and opening of improved entrance

Project Budget

The Celestial Park Entrance and Lighting Improvements project is a comprehensive effort to resolve erosion and safety issues, improve accessibility, and create a more inviting and sustainable entrance to one of Addison’s key parks. The project is fully funded and scheduled for completion in FY2026, with a strong emphasis on community input and high-quality, context-sensitive design.
