Redding Trail Dog Park will be closed beginning October 7 until early April for improvements. A temporary dog park is being built at the corner of Marsh Lane and Beltway Road so that pet owners will continue to have access to an off-leash area during construction. Drinking fountains will not be provided during construction, so all guests are asked to provide drinking water for themselves and their pets.
The Town is adding a trail connection from the existing loop of the Redding Trail to the new sidewalk that has been recently finished as part of the Midway Road construction project. To accommodate the new trail segment, the Town will be adjusting the shape of the dog park to allow the trail to pass to the south of it. Although the dog park is losing space on its south side, it will be extended to the north and to the east, making it 1,700 square feet larger than it is currently. Another change will be that the new fence will made of strong and durable recycled plastic lumber, rather than a chain link material, which is no longer allowed by Oncor in their easement. All seating will be reinstalled on newly poured concrete walkways, and brand-new freeze-proof dog water stations will be added to allow for year-round use. The dog park and new trail segment are expected to open in early April.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve this popular dog park.
