| Facilities - General Services is responsible for maintaining 16 Addison facilities: Town Hall, Finance Building, Police Station, Central Fire Station, Fire Station #2, Athletic Club, Conference Centre, Theatre Centre, Service Center, Stone Cottage, Addison Circle Park Pavilion, Celestial Pump Station, Surveyor Pump Station, Kellway Lift Station, Water Tower, and Addison Circle Police Sub Station. The department manages a central warehouse and inventory control system to service all of these facilities. We manage Addison's inventory of office and custodial supplies and stock a wide variety of supplies to assist departments in their day-to-day operations. We also transport mail among all municipal buildings. | |
| Airport - General Services is the Town's liason to the Addison Airport | |
Fleet Services - General Services is responsible for maintaining 200+ vehicles and equipment: police cars, fire trucks, Air Rescue Fire Fighting vehicle, ambulances, motorcycles, dump trucks, aerial trucks, street sweeper, chipper, backhoes, vactor, arrows/message boards, and trailers. We currently have four Technicians on staff. Our Technicians are ASE and/or EVT certified and provide excellent service. We have an extensive parts warehouse that ensures cost efficient and timely repairs to our vehicles.
Fuel Management - Fleet Services manages two fleet fueling facilities. Both are state of the art electronic dispensing and inventory monitoring system systems that provide efficiency and environmental compliancy.
 | In 2004, Addison purchased its first Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) to replace a standard pickup truck. We now have 10 HEVs in our fleet, resulting in a fuel usage savings of 50% over the vehicles that were replaced. We continue to monitor the technological advances in alternative fueled vehicles. For now, hybrid technology is the way to go. Hydrogen vehicles are on the horizon and we'll be looking at what possibilities may be available there as well. |
| Energy Conservation - Addison is going GREEN! In addition to our hybrid electrical vehicles, we are looking at numerous ways to reduce our ecological footprint. We have begun using bio-diesel fuel in our non-public safety diesel engines. All new buildings and upgrades will meet sustainable standards where applicable. And, we were one of the first to adopt the Clean Air Policy of the North Central Texas Council of Governments. Click on Sustainability Initiatives to learn more. |
