Hamid Khaleghipour, Director of Information Techology
Director of Information Technology, Hamid Khaleghipour, joined The Town of Addison in 1998. Before his position at the Town of Addison, Hamid was the Information Services Manager for the City of Enid for seven years. For five years prior to his municipal experience, Hamid worked in the private sector for York International as a System Manager/Corporate Technology Trainer. Hamid has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, with a minor in Math.
The Information Technology Department for the Town of Addison was created by the City Council with the adoption of the 1998 fiscal budget. The IT Department reports to the City Manager's office. The purpose of the IT Department is to support the Town's commitment to quality public service by providing technology to maximize the Town's resources.
During the last 10 years under Hamid's leadership, Addison has become one of the most technologically progressive communities in the nation. As proof of Addison commitment and Hamid's leadership, in 2005, Hamid successfully negotiated a franchise agreement, enterprise owned and operated with revenue sharing option, with RedMoon Broadband Inc. to become the first community in Texas to provide city-wide wireless broadband Internet access to its residents, businesses, and visitors. Addison officials saw wireless broadband as a means to improve living and working conditions in the town as well as an opportunity to reduce municipal Telecommunications costs.
Hamid was recognized for Demonstrated Leadership in Management of Information Technology, in the 2004 Best of Texas awards sponsored by the Center for Digital Government. The Best of Texas Awards program was established to salute IT professionals, in the State of Texas, both state and local, for their contributions, hard work, and overall dedication The winners are selected on a set of criteria, including innovative technological advances, productive collaborations with other agencies, and quality of improvement of services to state employees and citizens.
Hamid has been a featured speaker at DigitalCity Expo, MuniWireless Expo, UTCLE - University of Texas School of Law - Continuing Legal Education, Telecom, Cable, and Wireless Conference, TATOA (Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors) Conference, and Texas Association of Court Administrators Conference.
Hamid served as the Education Chair for TAGITM (Texas Association of Governmental Information Technology Managers), Advisory Board of the Center for Digital Government, and he is a member of Government Management Information Sciences, Rotary District 5810 of Rotary International, North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, and Class of 2001 graduate of Leadership Metrocrest. Hamid is also a Board Member for Information Technology Advisory Council (ITAC).
Hamid has been has been quoted on numerous domestic and international publications in the area of Connectivity, Interoperability, Wireless Technology, and role of local government in providing WiFi services.
