Padcom, Inc., a leader in wireless software solutions for continuous remote access to critical applications, today announced that the Town of Addison, TX has reported sustained benefits for its police and fire departments from the town’s wireless data implementation which was based on Padcom’s TotalRoam software mobile router. The Padcom solution was implemented in early 2004, as Addison migrated from a single radio frequency (RF) network to a multiple wireless network infrastructure. Since the implementation, Addison agencies have experienced increased data speeds, near elimination of dropped connections in their jurisdiction, failsafe redundancy, and a boost in mobile worker satisfaction.
“Over a year after the implementation, it’s clear that our wireless data project is a success,” said Chad Hancock, network specialist for the Town of Addison. “We’ve provided the increased coverage and throughput needed to support new applications and have gained a valuable resource in Padcom. By working with us closely through every step, from implementation to subsequent upgrades, Padcom has shown a commitment to technological excellence and to Addison as a customer. That commitment gives a high level of comfort and allows us to focus our efforts toward maintaining our network infrastructure, secure with the knowledge that Padcom will help handle connectivity for our officers.”
Prior to the wireless data implementation, the Town of Addison had been using a relatively slow RF network solution to deliver critical data and applications to its 116 police and fire workers. Addison chose to incorporate 802.11g (Wi-Fi) and CDMA networks to provide the speed necessary to support important new applications such as full-client computer-aided dispatch and IP video software; TotalRoam was implemented to simplify the deployment of these new networks, while adding seamless roaming, failover capabilities, and extending the useful life of Addison’s existing RF network. Since the implementation, Addison officers and firefighters are able to work more efficiently, providing improved field reporting, making remote database inquiries, and leveraging IP video.
“The Town of Addison is a clear example of the successful, long-term customer relationships that form the foundation of our company’s success,” said Scott A. Stone, CEO of Padcom, Inc. “By working together, Padcom and Addison have helped extend critical applications to the town’s mobile workers, driving increased productivity and ensuring that their wireless data solution meets Addison’s needs now – and well into the future.”
