Taste on the Tarmac officially kicked-off the Taste Addison season on Friday, April 26 at Galaxy FBO. Sponsored by Oncor, the elevated tasting experience brought the private, public, and non-profit sectors together to provide a platform for future culinary and hospitality professionals and raise money for Metrocrest Services' Sack Summer Hunger Program.

The stars of this celebration were CFBISD high school culinary arts students who competed by making their best Taste Bite. However, there was a twist in this culinary competition. Half of the ingredients used in creating the Taste Bite had to be items typically donated to a food pantry. Entries were voted on by guests for the People’s Choice Award and celebrity judges of the evening: Addison Mayor Bruce Arfsten, Farmers Branch Mayor Terry Lynne, Carrollton Mayor Steve Babick, and Coppell Mayor Wes Mays. Additional Taste Bites were provided by Chamberlain’s Steak & Fish.

The overall winning team will have the opportunity to pop-up in the Tasting Hut the weekend of Taste Addison. All of the participants are coordinating a give-back day to the Metrocrest Services Food Pantry where Chef Chamberlain will join for a mentoring session.
